Seems like there have been a lot of pedestrian collisions (several fatal) in the local news the last week or two: Pike Place, Lynnwood, Federal Way, Auburn, Tulalip, Southcenter, etc. But from what I can tell, this year was actually pretty good for pedestrians in Seattle proper. Relatively speaking, that is. The five deaths—which is five too many, of course—would be the lowest number since 2002 if it holds. Here’s hoping it’s part of a downward trend and not just an anomaly. And here’s hoping the two folks hit in this incident recover quickly.
And I spoke too soon. Wish I could say I was surprised…
what an interesting site! i was struck as a pedestrian in 2010 in the U district while standing on the sidewalk. i never would have thought this was a regular occurance until this happened to me and i hear so many stories of it happening to others in our neighborhood.
