  • While I’m not sure if they’re exclusive favorites, I’ll list two of my common walking routes and why I like them.

First is my walk from home to Capitol Hill. I live in North Beacon Hill and frequently shop and dine in Capitol Hill. Until University Link opens up, I’ll be using this route. I either walk or bike from my home near 15th and Beacon Ave to Capitol Hill via 15th, Golf Dr, and 12th Ave. Walking along 15th you can sneak peaks out to the East of the valley below, Bellevue, and on clear days the Cascade mountains. Once you hit the Dr. Jozel Rizal Bridge, you have excellent views of downtown, the stadiums, and on clear days the Olympic mountains. 12th Ave leads you past the busy Little Saigon area and up past Seattle University to Capitol Hill.

Second his my walk to SODO from my home. I frequently catch buses in SODO and if the weather is nice and I have time, I’ll walk down there (or home) instead of taking the light rail one stop. I access this route via the College St stairs, Beacon Ave, and Holgate St. Going uphill it is good exercise, and going down you get a nice view of Downtown while walking down the Holgate bridge over I-5.
